The American Desalting Association is seeking an Executive Director to represent the association and manage its day-to-day operations. The Executive Director will implement the goals, objectives and policies of the Association as established by the Board of Directors.
Specific Executive Director responsibilities include:
· Represents the Association at industry-related functions, conferences and events.
· Acts as the primary spokesperson for the Association.
· Grows the Associations membership and facilitates communication between the membership and the Board of Directors
·
Directs the activities of the Association staff,
which administers the various activities of the Association, as well as
overall responsibility for the performance of Association staff.
· Assists the President in preparing agendas for Board of Directors meetings and attends Board of Directors meetings and other Association meetings as required.
· Serves as the Managing Editor for the Association Newsletter and Website
· Coordinates the activities of the Associations working committees
· Works with Association committees and the Board of Directors to locate, develop, promote, coordinate and implement technology transfer workshops and technical conferences.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic advocate with strong communication and interpersonal skills proven through recognized leadership in the membrane treatment industry. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical competency as well as effective management and organization skills, with the ability to formulate and implement strategic goals and objectives. Other desirable characteristics include being politically astute, an effective problem solver and a strong administrator.
The successful candidate will have at least ten (10) years of experience in the membrane treatment industry with a high level of management experience, administrative experience and preferably, advocacy experience. The successful candidate will also possess excellent self-management, consensus building and communication skills. It is expected that candidates will have a minimum of a Bachelors degree. The successful candidate cannot be a member of the Association Board or affiliated professional Boards.
The ideal candidate must be able to travel sufficiently to execute the duties and responsibilities of the position, and must maintain telephone, fax and e-mail access at all times. The position is part-time initially, and salary will be negotiated.
